The transnational Turkmenistan-Iran-Kazakhstan railway is scheduled to be launched in December 2011, an official Turkmen source said.
It will be possible to transport 5 million tons of cargo per year in the first years of operation of the railway. In the future, this figure should increase to 10-12 million tons per year.
Muti-kilometer-section of the international railway will cover the city Uzen (Kazakhstan)-Gyzylgaya-Bereket-Etrek (Turkmenistan) - Gorgan (Iran), connect the three countries with Russia and provide access to the Persian Gulf.
The construction is managed under the agreement signed by the presidents of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Iran.
