Taxpayers will be able to get information about their debts to the state budget via a mobile phone in Azerbaijan. Currently, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes works over a project to activate the service "Message", the ministry said on August 31.
"The project will be implemented under the technical support of the telephone service 195, operating in the ministry," the message said.
"Message" is the transmission of sound messages in an automated mode. The Tax Office intends to fully transmit sound messages to taxpayers via this service. The project aims to rapidly convey similar information to most of taxpayers, thus accelerating the process of informing. The Ministry of Taxes hopes that after the implementation of the project, taxpayers will treat thier duties with more responsibility.
Telephone information service 195 has been operating since 2003. The purpose of the service is not only to answer the questions of taxpayers, but also to receive complaints of violations of tax laws, as well as actions (inactions) of officials of tax organizations.
Service operates 24 hours free of charge. Taxpayers can get answers to questions about the different types of taxes, registration on a "single window" and tax accounting, rules and deadlines for tax reports, e-declarations. They also have the opportunity to find out the amount of their tax debts. About 319,439 taxpayers used this service in 2008 and 158,641 taxpayers - in the first half of 2009.
At present, transformation of telephone service into a single "Call-center" for state agencies is actively discussed. Since July, 2009, besides the Ministry of Taxes, taxpayers got an opportunity to apply to the Ministry of Economic Development via telephone service 195. It is necessary to use the buttons "1" for the Ministry of Taxes and "2" for the Ministry of Economic Development.
