Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov asked his government to develop and submit a state program on the phased privatization of state enterprises to the Cabinet of Ministers by Oct.1.
The Economy and Development Ministry was asked to organize the sale of joint stock companies created on the basis of the ministry's state enterprises at a competitive auction.
Turkmenistan boasts some of the world's largest gas resources. The Turkmen president noted that the fuel and energy complex will remain under the direct control of the state.
Earlier privatization was implemented in the services and foods and beverages industries.
