Turkmenpagta (Turkmencotton) will sell cotton from the 2010-2012 crop harvests to the Textile Industry Ministry in Turkmenistan at fixed prices from tje State Insurance Fund for Industrial Processing.
The decree was signed by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov "to improve the financial condition and efficient use of the ministry's production capacities."
Turkmenistan is among the top 10 global raw cotton producers.
The textile industry in the country is developing on the basis of the growth of domestic cotton processing. Turkmenistan prepared more than 1 million tons of raw cotton in 2011. Traditionally, the country exports to China, Russia, the UK, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine and the Baltic States.
