Georgia, Tbilisi, April 5 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia/
A move to increase mineral and fresh water prices was decided upon by the Commission of Natural Resources of Georgia on Friday.
Accoridng to the decision, the price on mineral water would be increased by three times, and the price on fresh water - by two times.
Dues for fresh water are to be 8 GEL instead of 4 (1 USD = 1,66 GEL), and mineral water dues are to be 9 instead of 3 GEL, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Georgi Kvirikashvili said.
"We think, that mineral water should cost more, than fresh water. Regarding dues on brands, in case of "Borjomi" it is to cost 30 instead of 10 GEL; "Nabeglavi " is to become 18 instead of 6 GEL, "Sairme" also 18 instead of 6, and "Utsera" is to be 12 instead of 4 GEL," Kvirikashvili said.
Minister believes, companies are not to incur extra losses, as they have a rather big resource of cost optimization.
Along with that, he hopes that the producers are not to upraise consumer prices for mineral water after the increase in taxes.
