Iranian shipping lines (IRISL) did not increase its container tracking service, MANA portal reported.

According to the report IRISL announced the price list of container tracking services for August 2013 with no increase in comparison to July.

IRISL comprises 115 ocean-going vessels with the total capacity of 3.3 million tons of deadweight (DWT). The ownership structure of the fleet comprises 87 ocean-going vessels in IRISL and 28 different types of ships under the flag of subsidiaries, including Khazar Shipping, Valfajr as well as Iran-India Shipping Companies.

IRISL has been sanctioned by the US. The first series of sanctions against IRISL were implemented in September 2008. The US imposed new round of sanctions on Iran, including shipping sector on July 1.

The law signed in January as a part of the annual national defense authorization act, targets Iranian energy, shipping and shipbuilding sectors barring the sale, supply or transfer of 'significant' goods or services by non-US companies and also Iran's national currency, the rial.

Iranian Officials say that sanctions targeting Iranian Shipping Lines and ports cannot stop transportation, although this will cause additional cost.

The sanctions dropped the IRISL revenues by half to below $1 billion.

The sanctions that have targeted Iran's shipping sector will cause some $4.5 billion extra costs for Iran, Iranian media quoted board member of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines, Masoud Daneshmand as saying.
