The Belarusian enterprise Kamvol can start supplying fabrics for school uniforms to Uzbekistan, Belarusian media reported referring to the chairman of the Bellegprom concern Nikolai Efimchik.
“We are discussing possibility of entering the market of Uzbekistan with the Kamvol fabrics for sewing school uniforms. As we know, they [the Uzbek side] have already made a decision at the level of the head of state on introduction of a single school uniform. There is already some groundwork; the ball is on the Uzbek side. We are ready to meet their needs in the required volume, and this is another step for development of Kamvol,” Efimchik said.
From the 2019/2020 school year, a single school uniform will be introduced in all schools of Uzbekistan. The form will be introduced in three age categories: for students of 1-4, 5-8 and 9-11 grades. Short-term microcredits will be issued to purchase the uniforms.
Earlier it was reported that the Belarus concern Bellegprom and the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan signed a protocol of intent with the aim of expanding cooperation in the textile industry.
The parties showed interest in developing cooperation in the textile and leather-shoe industries between the enterprises of Belarus and Uzbekistan.
In 1H2018, the exports of Bellegprom to Uzbekistan amounted to $293,900, which is 5.1 percent more compared to the same period last year. Export deliveries grew primarily due to an increase in the export of fabrics (3.4 times), hosiery (7 times) and corsetry (1.7 times).
The main exports are sewing and knitted goods, linens made from cellulosic fibers (Iskozh), artificial and synthetic fabrics (Mogotex, Kamvol), knitted fabrics (Belfa), textile haberdashery (Lenta), etc.
Exports from Uzbekistan to Belarus mainly consist of cotton yarn, cotton fiber and knitted cotton linens.
It was earlier announced that the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan is interested in joint production of furniture with the Minsk region of Belarus.
