Georgia imported from Azerbaijan 31,881.6 tons of cement in the amount of $1.46 million in January 2021,Trend reports citing a report from the National Statistical Office of Georgia.
The cost of this product increased compared to last year by $779,700, or 2.2 times, and the volume increased by 19,248.4 tons, or 2.5 times. During the reporting period last year, Georgia imported 12,633.2 tons of cement from Azerbaijan in the amount of $661,100.
IGeorgia also imported 2,808 tons of steel bars from Azerbaijan in the amount of $1.53 million. The cost of imported products increased by $262,400 or 20.6 percent compared to the same period last year, and the volume increased by 42.1 tons or 1.5 percent.
In January of this year, Georgia's trade with Azerbaijan amounted to $86.154 million.
Last month, Azerbaijan, with a share of 11.3 percent in Georgia's total trade turnover, ranked third among the trading partners of the neighboring country after China and Turkey.
Compared to the same period last year, a decrease in trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Georgia by 16 percent was recorded.
The value of Georgia's exports to Azerbaijan over the past year decreased by 24.4 percent and amounted to $34.404 million, and imports from Azerbaijan - by 11.2 percent, amounting to $51.75 million.
Azerbaijan ranks first among the main export partners of the neighboring country, with a share of 15.3 percent in Georgia's total exports. Azerbaijan has a share of 9.6 percent in Georgia's total imports and ranks fourth after China, Turkey and Russia.
