BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 30. STAR oil refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Türkiye has increased liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production, Trend reports via the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) of Türkiye.
Reportedly, LPG output at the refinery stood at 18,910 tonnes in April 2025, as compared to 16,617 tonnes in the same month of 2024, showing a 13.8 percent increase year-on-year.
The refinery imported over 932,104 tonnes of crude oil in April 2025, up from 863,654 tonnes in April 2024, marking a 7.9 percent increase.
The STAR refinery began operations on October 19, 2018. It integrates refining and petrochemical production and is the largest real sector investment in Türkiye’s economy.
Since the end of 2024, the refinery’s crude oil processing capacity has reached 13 million tonnes per year. STAR produces various petroleum products, including diesel, naphtha, and jet fuel. Its annual naphtha output almost fully covers the feedstock needs of the Petkim petrochemical complex.
