BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. The Swiss company Stadler will deliver three R-type (regional) electric trains to Azerbaijan by the end of this year, as part of previously reached agreements with Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, the company told Trend.
"The arrival of three R-type electric trains in Azerbaijan is scheduled for October and November. Currently, 4 diesel trains and 3 IR-type (interregional) electric trains have already been delivered to the country," a Stadler representative said.
The company also clarified that, in addition to these deliveries, several projects have already been implemented with Azerbaijan Railways, including:
- the delivery of 9 KISS-type double-decker electric trains,
- the provision of 20 sleeping cars (railroad coach),
- and the launch of a 10-year project for servicing KISS trains and sleeping cars, with a regional service center established in Baku since October 2023.
To note, the double-decker KISS electric trains ordered by Azerbaijan Railways from the Swiss Stadler Rail Group were first delivered to Azerbaijan in 2015.
