Kazakhstan, Finland to discuss economic cooperation

Finnish Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb will pay a working visit to Kazakhstan on October 2-5, Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

Within the visit Stubb will take part in the Kazakh-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Moreover, Stubb plans to meet with Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov, Deputy Prime Minister - Industry and New Technologies Minister Aset Isekeshev, Kazakh National Bank's head Grigory Marchenko and Chairman of Board of Kazakh Sovereign Wealth Fund 'Samruk-Kazyna' Umirzak Shukeyev.

"Within the visit the parties plan to discuss the state and prospects, as well as priority spheres of economic cooperation," Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.

Alexander Stubb will be accompanied by a delegation of more than 80 representatives of Finnish companies in the field of innovation, energy, technology, mining, construction, education, etc.

The main priority of the Kazakh-Finnish relations is cooperation in the field of innovation and new technologies, as well as attracting Finnish investments in Kazakhstan.

The trade volume between Kazakhstan and Finland amounted to $311.1 million in January -June 2012.
