Eight big joint projects are being implemented between Russia and Kazakhstan, Bakhyt Sultanov, the Kazakh deputy prime minister - minister of trade and integration, said, Trend reports via the ministry.
Sultanov made the remark during the 23rd meeting of the intergovernmental commission on cooperation between the two countries.
There is a great experience of successful industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia. The mentioned joint projects worth about $2.6 billion cover such industries as machine building, metallurgy, chemical industry, and others.
According to Sultanov, 11 more projects worth about $1.4 billion are under development.
“Engineering is a key area of industrial cooperation. We are interested in implementating new cooperative projects in the field of oil and gas engineering, creation of an auto component base,” he said. “We are determined to expand cooperation in the automotive industry by mastering the production of components and spare parts.”
Besides, at the initiative of the Kazakh side, the parties considered the issue of access of high-voltage equipment to the Russian market and reached an agreement to ensure mutual non-discriminatory access to each other's markets, including the use of the "calculation method" instead of real destructive tests in the certification of equipment and the use of this experience in order to sign the EAEU technical regulation “On the safety of high-voltage equipment” as soon as possible.
The parties also reached an agreement to study the issue of equal access to state and procurement of individual legal entities and the recognition of tests performed in Kazakh laboratories for most indicators for access to large grid energy companies in Russia.
The Russian side expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the field of metallurgy, science and production. The parties also discussed issues of the digital agenda, interaction in order to improve customs and tax administration, intensify cooperation in the field of hydropower and renewable energy sources.
