ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 3. Japanese companies have invested over $7.8 billion in the economy of Kazakhstan over the past 18 years, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov, Trend reports, citing the press service of MFA.
He made the remark during a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Jun Yamada.
"Astana and Tokyo have established an active political dialogue, achieved a high level of economic interaction and continue to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties. Over 18 years, Japanese companies have invested over $7.8 billion in the economy of Kazakhstan, and we see great potential for expanding cooperation in key sectors of the economy," he said.
Kuantyrov noted the high potential of Kazakhstan for expanding investment cooperation with Japan in such areas as transport and logistics, mining and metals industry, renewable energy, waste processing, digitalization and infrastructure
In turn, Yamada noted that Kazakhstan is a strategic partner of Japan, and recently, more and more companies have shown interest in opening enterprises in Kazakhstan. As he pointed out, Japanese companies can help Kazakhstan in the implementation of energy projects, the development of transport potential, infrastructure, and in particular in the digitalization of the logistics process. The Japanese Ambassador emphasized that the planned opening of direct flights between the countries in 2026 will strengthen bilateral ties and expand opportunities for business and tourism.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to deepen economic cooperation through a strengthened strategic partnership.
