(gazeta.kz) - Hosni Mubarak, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, has arrived in Kazakhstan on the first official two-day visit, Kazakhstan Today correspondent reports from Astana.
The airplane with the Egyptian leader aboard landed in Astana at 2.55 PM of the local time. The Egyptian President was met by Kassymzhomart Tokayev, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Byrganym Aitimova, Minister of Education and Science, and Yermukhamet Yertysbayev, Minister of Culture and Information, reports Trend.
Yerzhan Ashikbayev, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, told journalists yesterday that during the Egyptian leader's visit the Presidents of Egypt and Kazakhstan were going to "discuss the whole set of issues related with the further development of mutually beneficial co-operation, as well as relevant regional and international problems, including the situation in the Middle East."
A number of bilateral documents on economic, cultural, and security co-operation are planned to be signed. A joint statement will be issued as a result of the talks between the two heads of state.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Information, Investments, Trade, and Industry of Egypt accompany the President of Egypt.
The relationship between Kazakhstan and Egypt started during an official visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Egypt in 1993. A political dialogue was established then between the two states, economic and cultural-humanitarian ties are developing.
