Kyrgyzstan shares data on potato, oilseed, and sugar beet harvest

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 5. Kyrgyzstan has harvested potatoes from 64,600 hectares, or 97.3 percent of the planned area, as of November 4, 2024, Trend reports via the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

The average yield for potatoes stood at 178.8 centners per hectare, up by 2.4 centners compared to the same period last year.

The total potato harvest reached 1.155 million tons, with the highest yield recorded in the Issyk-Kul region at 197.8 centners per hectare.

In addition, the country has completed 92 percent of its oilseed harvest, with 13,000 hectares harvested so far. The yield for oilseeds was 11 centners per hectare, and total production amounted to 14,500 tons.

Moreover, the harvest of sugar beets has been carried out on 9,100 hectares, with an average yield of 623.2 centners per hectare. This was 155.1 centners per hectare higher than in 2023.

The total sugar beet harvest stood at 568,500 tons, which is an increase of 219,800 tons from the previous year.

As per the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country's agricultural production totaled 302.1 billion soms ($3.5 billion) from January through September 2024, which is a 6.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
