BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28. The Trade Facilitation in Central Asia project, commissioned by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), will support the development of transport and logistics companies in Tajikistan, the source at GIZ told Trend.

“The project will advise transport and logistics companies on how to improve their operations, including adopting more efficient and environmentally friendly practices. Practical training will be conducted in areas such as logistics management and digital solutions,” the source said.

The company clarified that specific activities, trainings, analyses, and studies will be determined after consultations with the Tajik partners within the framework of the selected outputs. These partners are the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Transport, Customs Services under the Government of Tajikistan, and the Food Safety Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.

“Support for transport and logistics companies will lead to more efficient and sustainable operations, reducing costs and improving service quality, which will help Tajik companies become more competitive in the international market,” the source said.

A trade facilitation agreement was signed on June 5, 2024, between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan and GIZ. The project, which runs from January 2024 through December 2026, has a total budget of 6.5 million euros, distributed among Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. These initiatives are expected to enhance trade dynamics and economic integration in the region.
