Tajikistan discloses electricity generation in 8M2024

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 21. Tajikistan generated approximately 15.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from January through August 2024.

According to information obtained by Trend from the country's Statistical Agency, around 1 billion kilowatt-hours, or 6.5 percent, was exported.

During the period under review, Tajikistan exported electricity worth over $82.3 million, which is a decrease of $2.8 million (3.3 percent) compared to the same period in 2023.

The share of electricity exports in the country's overall exports for the first eight months of this year was 6.5 percent.More than 80 percent of the electricity exported goes to Afghanistan, while the remaining 20 percent is supplied to Uzbekistan.

In 2023, Tajikistan's electricity exports reached $110 million, which is a 4 percent increase from 2022. Last year, electricity from Tajikistan was exported to Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.
