DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 20. The value of industrial production in Tajikistan’s free economic zones (FEZs) reached 523 million somoni (approximately $48.7 million) in 2024, which is an increase of 76 million somoni ($7 million) compared to 2023, Trend reports.
This was disclosed during a recent convening of the Supervisory
Council pertaining to the nation's Free Economic Zones.
Following the inception of the Free Economic Zones, the aggregate
industrial throughput has culminated in a staggering 2.988 billion
somoni (approximately $276 million). The inaugural free economic
zone of Tajikistan, known as Sughd, was instituted in the year
2009.
As of January 1, 2025, a total of 107 domestic and foreign companies are registered across Tajikistan's five FEZs. These include 41 entities in FEZ Sughd, 36 in FEZ Danghara, 9 in FEZ Kulob, 17 in FEZ Panj, and 4 in FEZ Ishkoshim.
In 2024 alone, 24 new businesses were registered: 7 in FEZ Sughd, 9 in FEZ Danghara, 6 in FEZ Panj, and 2 in FEZ Kulob. Additionally, six new enterprises began operations, creating 157 new jobs.
Companies operating in the FEZs are involved in the production of metal structures, aluminum and plastic window and door profiles, plastic pipes and containers, electrical cables, construction paints, metal-plastic products, electric scooters, wooden windows and doors, finishing materials, furniture, and cleaning supplies.
