BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 19. The U20 World Wrestling Championships are underway in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

On the fourth day of competition, winners were determined in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 60 kg and 82 kg weight categories, as well as in women’s wrestling in the 50 kg, 53 kg and 72 kg categories.

Aykhan Javadov (60 kg) faced Uzbek wrestler Dostonbek Oripov in the final. A four-point move executed by our compatriot in the first period decided the outcome of the bout. Defeating his opponent 4-1, Javadov successfully defended his title and became a U20 world champion for the second consecutive time.

Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) faced Turkish wrestler Ismail Berek in the bout for the bronze medal. Taking the initiative from the very beginning, our wrestler maintained his advantage until the end and secured a 7-1 victory to win the bronze medal at the World Championships.

Zahra Karimzade (72 kg) lost to Russian wrestler Liliana Kazmina in the bronze-medal bout and finished the World Championships in fifth place.

Thus, the number of medals won by Azerbaijan at the World Championships has reached five. In previous days, Javidan Nehmatov (77 kg) won a silver medal, while Emin Javadli (55 kg) and Tural Ahmadov (63 kg) claimed bronze medals.
