DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 20. The total value of domestic and foreign investments lured into Tajikistan’s free economic zones (FEZs) hit 114 million somoni (around $10.6 million) in 2024, marking an 11 percent uptick compared to 2023, Trend reports.
This was announced during a recent meeting of the Supervisory Council of the country’s FEZs.
Since the launch of the FEZs, a total of 2.499 billion somoni (about $232.7 million) in investments has been attracted, while 1,625 jobs have been created across the zones. Tajikistan’s first free economic zone, FEZ Sughd, was established in 2009.
It was also noted that since the beginning of FEZ operations, 386 million somoni (approximately $35.9 million) has been paid into the state budget in the form of taxes and customs duties. This figure is nearly 3.5 times higher than the government's total spending on the development and maintenance of FEZ infrastructure.
As of January 1, 2025, a total of 107 entities, both domestic
and international, have been duly registered within the
jurisdiction of the nation's five Free Economic Zones (FEZs). This
includes a distribution of 41 entities in FEZ Sughd, 36 in FEZ
Danghara, 9 in FEZ Kulob, 17 in FEZ Panj, and 4 in FEZ
Ishkoshim.
In the fiscal year 2024, a total of 24 novel entities were
officially registered across various zones: 7 within the
jurisdiction of FEZ Sughd, 9 under the auspices of FEZ Danghara, 6
affiliated with FEZ Panj, and 2 associated with FEZ Kulob.
Currently, enterprises in the FEZs are engaged in the production of metal structures, aluminum and plastic profiles for windows and doors, plastic pipes and containers, electrical cables, construction paints, metal-plastic products, electric scooters, wooden windows and doors, finishing materials, furniture, and cleaning supplies.
