Iranian shipping group, Tidewater Middle East Company, will be expanding its transportation network in the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean, Fars news agency reports.
Tidewater's current routes are made up of Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. By adding to its fleet, it will be able to transport sea containers to Oman and India.
By increasing its sea routes, Tidewater will help reduce traffic on Iran's southern coastal road and give importers and exporters a cheaper, faster alternative for transporting their goods.
Tidewater is owned by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and is among Iranian corporations and entities blacklisted by the West as part of the U.S. and European-led sanctions drive against Iran because of its nuclear development programme.
