Iran is interested in easing the sanctions pressed against it, according to a senior researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Sazhin.

"Iran has been living under tough economic sanctions for over a year. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently said that the economic situation is very difficult. So, as per IAEA figures, indicators for oil production in Iran decreased over the year from $ 50 to $40 billion. Current production volume has dropped to two million barrels per day, whereas exports are also down to one million barrels per day," Sazhin said.

According to him, such a reduction in such a critical sector of the economy introduces a chain of new problems: over a thousand companies have closed this spring, the number of unemployed is growing.

"Because of this, Iran is interested in the easing of sanctions, and the Group of six quite realistically offers this in exchange for the fulfillment of IAEA terms by Tehran. As it is known, there is a plan proposed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov entitled 'step by step', which provides for the gradual resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue. And, in my opinion, there are no disagreements on the plan proposed by Russia within the Group of six nations itself, and Iran seems to be willing to consider it," the expert said.
