BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22. Iran has achieved stability in the production of various types of products in the field of radioisotopes, Iranian Vice President and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization Mohammad Eslami said at a Cabinet meeting in Tehran, Trend reports.
According to him, since the presentation of Iran's strategic action document on April 9, 2022, the Atomic Energy Organization has started taking active steps to implement all the objectives that can have an effective role in the lives of citizens.
The official noted that, thanks to the production of radioisotopes in the country, the attentiveness in diagnosing diseases has increased, and the effectiveness of medicines in fighting cells in treatment has been enhanced in Iran. During the mentioned period, six new radioisotopes have been put into operation in the country, and research on the production of 20 new radioisotopes is ongoing. Thus, the types of products in the country's radioisotope packaging will exceed 80.
Eslami stated that 330 advances have been achieved in the technological and industrial sectors since this date, and these advances are being utilized in the production process.
The official noted that, as a result of the studies conducted by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, 12 centers have been planned and implemented to ensure the health and food security of the population. Over the past 3 months, 3 irradiation centers have been established in the country, and at least 3 irradiation centers will be in operation by September 22.
Iran claims that it is its natural right to utilize its nuclear program for peaceful purposes.
To note, the chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, stated that the country produces 130 million tons of agricultural products a year. Its 40 million tons—30 percent—became waste. The establishment of irradiation centers will help to prevent agricultural products from becoming waste.
