Iran seeks significant increase in gas output through strategic development - official

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. Iran is working on a program to increase its gas production potential by 250 million cubic meters per day within the next four to five years, Touraj Dehghani, Head of the Iranian Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), told reporters, Trend reports.

Dehghani explained that the program, which was developed by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), will primarily be implemented by the POGC.

According to him, extensive research has confirmed that it is possible to boost the country's gas production potential. He highlighted that within the next few years, Pars Oil and Gas Company will be able to add an additional 150 million cubic meters per day to its current production.

The company official further noted that the development of key gas fields, including Kish, North Pars, and Bilal, will be crucial to this increase in production.

To note, Iran is considered the world's second-largest gas reserve country with about 34 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves. Presently, 22 gas fields are operating in Iran. Iran's gas production averages 1 bcm per day.
