Iran, Indonesia discuss further scientific cooperation

(IRNA) - Iran's Ambassador to Indonesia Behrouz Kamalvandi discussed Tehran-Jakarta scientific cooperation in a meeting with Chairman of Indonesian Institute of Sciences Umar Anggar Jenie in Jakarta on Thursday.

The two also discussed formation of a committee for launching joint scientific activities, Iran's embassy in Jakarta said in a statement, reports Trend.

Establishment of the committee had been mentioned in a previous agreement signed by the two countries.

Such a committee would prepare the grounds for further cooperation between Iranian and Indonesian research and scientific centers, Kamalvandi said.

He briefed Jenie on Iran's scientific progress particularly in the fields of defense and marine industries as well as biotechnology, pharmaceutical and auto making industries and dam building.

The two also discussed major international developments including the current situation in Iraq.
