Around 5,493,492 people visited Georgia in 2014, which is 1.9 percent more than as of 2013, Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend.
Some 433,660 people visited the country in December 2014, which is 10.5 percent more than in the same period of 2013.
The number of tourists visiting the country in 2014 stood at 2,218,050 (40.4 percent of the total number of visitors to the country), which is 7.4 percent more compared to the same period of 2013.
Around 1,110,015 people (20.2 percent of the total number of visitors) transited Georgia, which is 0.6 percent less compared to 2013.
The number of visits to Georgia from Turkey increased by 2.1 percent, from Azerbaijan - 17.2 percent, Armenia - 18.6 percent, Russia - eight percent in December 2014. This is while the number of visitors from Ukraine to this country decreased by nine percent.
Positive trend also remains in the number of visitors from EU countries.
The number of visits to Georgia increased by 93 percent from Lithuania, 25 percent - Poland and Latvia and 11 percent from the UK in Jan.-Dec. 2014.
Moreover, the number of visits from Kazakhstan increased by 34 percent and Belarus - 48 percent.
