Porto striker Falcao made an all-Portugal final very likely after scoring four goals to give his side a come-from- behind 5-1 victory against Villarreal in an European League semi- final on Thursday.
The other semi-final saw Benfica Lisbon beat rivals Braga 2-1 to leave that tie evenly poised, dpa reported.
In Porto the star of the evening was undoubtedly Colombian striker Falcao, who equalized Cani's opening headed goal for Villarreal four minutes after the break from the penalty spot, awarded after he was brought down in the area by goalkeeper Diego Lopez.
Falcao's compatriot Freddy Guarin put Porto in front on the hour, before Falcao scored his second just six minutes later. He gave his side a convincing three-goal lead in the 75th minute and probably put the tie beyond Villarreal in injury time with his fourth goal of the evening.
The convincing victory leaves coach Andre Villas-Boas' side on course for a treble. They have already won the Portuguese league and are in the final of the domestic cup. Judging by Thursday's performance, Porto are also favourites to lift the Europa League.
The 33-year-old Villas-Boas complimented his side after the game. "We were unfortunate not to score in the first half, but Villarreal were more effective. But we answered them well in the second half."
Falcao, who equalized Juergen Klinsmann's record of 15 goals in the Europa League from the 1995/6 season, when it was still called UEFA Cup, warned that his side was not yet in the final. "We still have to play the next game and we have to be careful.
"For the team it was wonderful and for me it was like a dream to score four goals in such an important game. It is just unbelievable. I have heard of Juergen Klinsmann's record and now I am trying to better it."
In Lisbon surprise package Braga were far from out-played, even if they do need to make up a one-goal deficit in next week's return leg.
Jardel gave the home side the lead in the 51st minute, but Vandinho levelled matters just four minutes later.
On the hour Oscar Cardozo found a winner for Benfica with a well- taken direct free-kick that gave goalkeeper Arthur Gusmao no chance.
Never before have three Portuguese teams been in the semi-finals of an European competition and never before have two teams from Portugal faced each other in a European final, but it seems likely that they will do so in Dublin in May 18.
