Russia declares protest to US Ambassador in connection with CIA officer’s activities

Foreign Minister of Russia declared its protest to the Ambassador of the United States Michael McFaul, in connection with the attempt of the representative of the CIA Ryan Fogle to recruit an employee of one of the Russian special services, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the Ministry's website.

On Wednesday, McFaul was summoned to the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation in connection with the spy scandal around Ryan Fogle. When leaving the Foreign Ministry, the US Ambassador refused to comment on the meeting held in the Ministry and did not answer any of the questions of journalists.

"The ambassador received a protested in connection with the attempt to recruit an employee of one of the Russian secret service by a CIA representative Fogle who worked under the lee of the third secretary of the Embassy. The American diplomat detained red-handed was declared 'persona non grata' and must leave the territory of the Russian Federation as soon as possible," the report says.

Fogle offered the Russian secret service officer $ 1 million a year for the work, a letter appearing in the operative survey released by the Federal Security Service of Russia says.
