ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 10. A new dairy farm in Kazakhstan's Aktobe region is set to nearly double its production capacity to 22,600 tons of milk per year, according to Askhat Shakharov, head of the region, Trend reports, citing the Aktobe region executive authority.
Shakharov toured LLP "Ays," which currently operates with a herd of 1,000 milking cows and produces 12,664 tons of milk annually. As part of its initial expansion phase, the farm plans to construct a new dairy facility and add 800 more milking cows. This construction is nearing completion, with an estimated total project cost of approximately $11.66 million, including about $7.04 million in borrowed funds.
These funds will cover building expenses as well as the purchase of a milking system and additional dairy cattle. Once the new facility opens, production capacity is expected to nearly double to 22,600 tons of milk per year. In the next phase, the farm aims to further increase its herd by another 800 cows, bringing its total capacity to 32,600 tons annually. The new farm will also create additional jobs, with operations expected to commence by the end of 2024.
During his visit, Askhat Shakharov also reviewed the forage harvesting operations. To date, LLP "Ays" has harvested 1,578 tons of alfalfa, 13,500 tons of silage, 4,800 tons of hay, and 950 tons of feed grain, with hay harvesting still ongoing.
"Dairy production is rapidly advancing in the Aktobe region. In line with the Head of State's directive to enhance milk and agricultural product production, two agricultural entities—LLP 'Ays' and LLP 'Rad-Agro'—are developing new dairy farms. These projects will provide the population with quality and affordable dairy products while positively impacting the agricultural economy of the region. The growth of the dairy sector will create new jobs and increase the incomes of local producers," he stated.
