ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 16. In the coming years, 116 modern dairy farms will be built, which will allow for an increase in milk production by 600,000 tons, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during his speech at the inaugural Forum of Agricultural Workers, Trend reports.
In his address, the President touched upon important aspects of agriculture. He noted that 29 poultry meat processing plants with a total capacity of over 220,000 tons of meat per year, as well as 11 egg-producing poultry farms with a capacity of 850 million eggs per year, are planned for construction. It is also planned to create six feeding sites for nearly 100,000 head of cattle and launch a facility for fattening 50,000 head of small cattle.
Additionally, Tokayev instructed the government to ensure domestic seed production for farmers. By 2028, this indicator should increase to 80 percent, with the share of high-quality (elite) seeds reaching at least 15 percent.
It is also important to note that Tokayev addressed the topic of horses.
“It is encouraging that the number of horses in the country is steadily increasing. However, the share of purebred horses is less than 1 percent, meaning that out of 4.2 million horses, only 40,000 are purebred. Therefore, special attention should now be paid to the breeding and selection of purebred horses. The Kazakh horse is also known for its endurance, but unfortunately, this breed is on the brink of extinction. Today, only 280 horses remain. Therefore, alongside increasing the horse population, key tasks include improving their breeding and productive qualities,” the president emphasized.
The Forum of Agricultural Workers is the first of its kind in Kazakhstan's history. More than 2000 agricultural workers from all regions of the country are participating. Representatives from the agriculture sector are also invited. The forum is being held at the Palace of Independence in Kazakhstan.
