ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 27. At least 31 dairy farms with a production volume of 139,500 tons will be implemented in the regions in 2025, which will be launched in 2026-2027, said the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Amangaliy Berdalin, during an expanded meeting of the board, Trend reports.
Meanwhile, today at the extended meeting of the board chaired by Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov discussed key issues of livestock development and veterinary infrastructure, as well as increasing the export potential of livestock products.
Deputy Minister Amangaliy Berdalin reported on the development of animal husbandry. He noted that the gross production of livestock products in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.3 trillion tenge ($6.6 billion) with a growth of 3.6 percent.
''A total of 1.2 million tons of meat of all types was produced, showing a 4.3 percent increase, and 3.6 million tons of milk, growing by 4.4 percent. The production volumes meet the domestic demand and also enable the increase of export volumes,'' the deputy minister added.
Thus, over 22.100 tons of beef were exported (a 1.5-fold increase), and 17.600 tons of lamb (a 2.2-fold increase).
Under President Tokayev's order to double gross agricultural production by 2023-2024, the construction of 86 dairy farms has been financed, 39 of which have already been put into operation and 47 projects are under development.
“Work is ongoing on the construction of poultry farms and the implementation of Australian practices in meat cattle breeding. As part of the work to implement Australian practices, 10 projects are planned for 2025. In the next two years, 6 feedlots for 98,000 heads of cattle, a large feeding complex for 50,000 heads of small ruminants, and the first specialized livestock exchange are planned. In this regard, the Roadmap for Feed Production has been updated”, said Deputy Minister
Amendments have been made to the legislation regarding the conservation and reproduction of domestic horse breeds, which will allow the revival of the Kostanay breed population.
He also added that there is a trend in increasing the export potential of animal products. Veterinary requirements and certificates have been agreed upon for exports to the EAEU countries, the CIS, the EU, China, Türkiye, and others. An important achievement has been obtaining permission to export honey to the EU. Work on removing restrictions and expanding sales markets for Kazakhstani products continues.
Upon hearing the report, the minister emphasized that the successful implementation of the planned measures would ensure sustainable growth in the sector and increase the competitiveness of Kazakhstani products in international markets.
The regional administrations have been instructed to put into operation the under-construction veterinary infrastructure facilities as soon as possible.
In 2024, six poultry farms with a capacity of 15.900 tons per year were commissioned in Kazakhstan. The administrations of the Aktobe, Almaty, and Atyrau regions have not ensured the implementation of projects.
