ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 28. Kazakhstan produced 6.7 million square meters of float glass in the first five months of 2025, Trend reports via the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the information, the "Orda Glass Ltd" glass plant, commissioned in October 2022, has a high-quality float glass production line. Since its launch, the plant has produced 28.7 million square meters. In 2024 alone, it produced 15.8 million square meters, and in the first five months of 2025 – 6.7 million square meters.
Moreover, the main products include clear transparent float glass, colored float glass, and coated glass. 70 percent of the produced goods are sold on the domestic market, while one-third is exported to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Georgia, and Russia.
"The plant is included in the list of priority activities. The Kazakh side provided 50 hectares of land free of charge as a grant for the construction of the plant, installed the necessary engineering infrastructure, and granted temporary exemptions from customs duties, corporate income tax, land tax, and property tax to investors," stated the press service of the ministry.
In June 2024, the investor launched a second project - an energy-saving glass production line - with a capacity of 5 million square meters per year and an investment of 6.7 billion tenge (approximately $12.73 million), funded with its own resources.
Sheet glass products have been included in the exemption list from the national regime, which will allow for priority procurement in regulated purchases. The plant also operates a laboratory for colored and energy-saving glass.
This plant is the largest glass production facility in Central Asia. Its maximum daily output is 600 tons, and its annual production capacity is 197,100 tons of float glass.
Float glass is a type of flat glass made using the float process, which involves floating molten glass on a bed of molten metal—usually tin. This method produces glass with uniform thickness and an extremely flat surface, making it ideal for windows, mirrors, and many other applications.
