ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 17. Certified testing of welded ship components is now underway at the laboratory of the Balkan Shipyard in Turkmenistan, Trend reports, citing the State Service of Maritime and River Transport.
The testing follows the issuance of Certificate No. 7.1.4.3 by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping on May 12, 2025. This certification authorizes the shipyard to conduct a range of mechanical and physical tests designed to verify the structural integrity of welded parts used in shipbuilding.
The laboratory currently conducts static tensile tests (including on longitudinal cylindrical samples), static and impact bending tests, static fracture tests, macrosection analysis, and hardness tests.
These capabilities are considered essential for ensuring that shipbuilding components meet international safety and performance standards.
The tests come as the Balkan Shipyard continues the construction of two dry cargo vessels, each with a carrying capacity of 6,100 tons, in partnership with South Korea’s Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd.
