BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 13. Road transport in Azerbaijan carried 96.7 million tons of cargo and 1.2 billion passengers from January through August 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee indicates that cargo transportation increased by 6.8 percent, while passenger transportation rose by 6 percent compared to the same period last year.
The data shows that passenger traffic was mainly served by buses, accounting for 95.5 percent of total passengers, while 4.5 percent used taxi services.
Overall, freight and passenger turnover in the road transport segment grew by 8.3 percent during the reporting period.
