Tajikistan Interested in Economic Cooperation with   Azerbaijan: Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 February / corr. Trend U. Ismayilova/ The government of Tajikistan is interested in economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, Bobodzoda Gulomjon, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan said during a meeting of the Azerbaijani-Tajikistani Inter-Government Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

The new composition of the Azerbaijani-Tajikistan inter-government commission on trade and economic cooperation was approved by decree of the Azerbaijani President signed on 7 February. Heydar Babayev, the Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan leads the commission from Azerbaijan and Bobodzoda Gulomjon, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan from the same country.

Representatives from the Ministries of Economic Development and Trade, Foreign Affairs, Transport and Communications and representatives from the banking sector took part in the meeting on behalf of Tajikistan.

Representatives from the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and the State Concern Azal took part in the meeting on behalf of Azerbaijan.

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan totaled $47mln in 2007.
