Volume of transactions on Internet Banking declined in Azerbaijan

Some 26.6 thousand transactions in the amount of 25.3 million manat were held through the Internet banking services in Azerbaijan in 2011, Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said on Saturday.

The volume of transactions through the Internet banking services increased by 9.1 percent for the fourth quarter of 2011, and decreased almost by 3 times compared to the end of 2010.

The volume of transactions amounted to 29.98 thousand 75.47 million manat by the end of 2010.

The number of plastic cards issued by local banks increased over the year by 349,000 units and reached 4.6 million units at the end of 2011, the CBA said. It means that 757 of payment cards account for every thousand people in the country.

There were 2.132 ATMs and 13.220 POS-terminals at the end of 2011. Some 46,527 million operations worth 6388 million manat was implemented through ATMs, and 1837 operations worth 375 million manat through POS-terminals in 2011.

There are 44 banks operating in Azerbaijan.
