Buy/sell operations at Iran Mercantile Exchange increases

A total of 689,000 tons of goods worth more than 70.1 trillion rials (about $1.67 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) last Iranian week (January 23 through January 28), Trend reports citing the IME’s official website.

This is an increase of 26 percent in terms of value and 62 percent in terms of volume compared to the preceding Iranian week (January 16 through January 21).

So, 425,000 tons of goods worth more than 55 trillion rials (about $1.3 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the preceding Iranian week.

According to the report, about 183,000 tons of goods worth about 23.4 trillion rials (about $556 million) were sold in the industrial and mining products section of IME last week.

"Thus, 180,000 tons of steel, 1,600 tons of copper, 1,000 tons of aluminum, 120 tons of molybdenum sulfur, 6 tons of precious metal concentrate, 10 tons of lead and 100 tons of cast iron were sold in this section," the report said.

In addition, more than 502,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth about 46.7 trillion rials (about $1.11 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME last Iranian week, the report said.

According to the report, 204,000 tons of vacuum bottom, 144,000 tons of bitumen, 65,900 tons of polymeric substances, 32,100 tons of chemicals, 55,500 tons of lube cut, 1,560 tons base oil, 50 tons of argon, and 235 tons of sulfur were sold in this section.

Furthermore, 3,680 tons of various products were sold in the submarket section of the exchange.
