Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 July / Trend / Ecological Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) reported that it had discussed with Word Bank representatives and Canadian Сlearstone Engineering possible implementation of the Clean Development Mechanism project.
Registration by CIS executive council of new methods, developed by SOCAR experts, to utilize casing-head gas was discussed as well.
Previously SOCAR developed a project on inventory of gas emission, which creates greenhouse effect, within the clean development mechanism of Kyoto Protocol at 28 May and Oil Rocks oil and gas producing units.
The key purpose of the projects is to prevent emission of gas to atmosphere which creates the greenhouse effect. At present, SOCAR is working in this connection at its enterprises and at operating companies within PSAs.
The Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1997. Its key goal is to bring the emission volume of gas creating greenhouse effect to an amount not to affect climate change. The protocol was ratified by Azerbaijan in 2000.
