Iraq plans to hold a tender to develop the Al-Nasiriya field and construct a refinery in the south of the country in late 2013, spokesman for the Iraqi Oil Ministry Asym Jihad told Trend.
According to Jihad, it is about a special tender for the development of this particular field.
According to Jihad, the exact dates of the fifth round of licensing companies for the exploration and development of gas fields are unknown.
Earlier, the tender to develop the Al-Nasiriya field was planned to be held in April this year. Then it was rescheduled for reasons not disclosed by the Iraqi Oil Ministry.
Jihad previously mentioned that the tender winning company will also build a refinery with a capacity of 300,000 barrels per day.
In April 2013, Iraq increased its oil exports to 78 million barrels, compared to 74.9 million barrels in March.
Average oil production in Iraq in April 2013 stood at 3.1 million barrels per day versus 3.2 million bpd in March 2013.
Iraq has increased its oil reserves in the country by 10 billion barrels through international tenders held for the exploration and development of new hydrocarbon deposits.
