The China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) explores, equips and develops the deposits in the contract area of Bagtyyarlyk, which has become one of the sources of raw materials for the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, Trend reports referring to the Neytralni Turkmenistan newspaper.
CNPC signed the Bagtyyarlyk Production Sharing Agreement with the Government of Turkmenistan in 2007, and began to purchase natural fuel in Central Asia since 2009, after the launch of a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
The total volume of natural fuel sent to the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline from Bagtyyarlyk amounts to more than 82 billion cubic meters.
Over the entire period of the Production Sharing Agreement, a large amount of work was carried out on the right bank of the Amu Darya River in connection with the conduct of seismic surveys and the drilling of new exploration and production wells. As a result, new gas deposits were discovered at the Samandepe field (block A) and the eastern, southern and northern parts of the contract area "Bagtyyrlyk" (block B).
High-yield oil and gas inflows were obtained during testing of exploratory wells in the central part of the Amudarya basin. Two gas processing plants were built on the Samandepe field and in the Hojambaz District of Lebap Region of Turkmenistan, along with more than a hundred test and production wells, and production, logistics and social infrastructure facilities.
The 1st stage of the field development project, located in the eastern part of Bagtyyarlyk, has been successfully implemented.
The construction of gas gathering stations, pipelines, gas pre-treatment plants and other infrastructure facilities was carried out here in 2018. Six directional wells were prepared for operation, with high-flow rates of gas obtained during the process of testing of these wells. The first batch of commercial gas was produced here in January 2019. The industrial production of raw materials in the eastern part of Block B is scheduled to begin in late 2019. As expected, the implementation of the 1st phase of the project will produce 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
