BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. The RFCC plant (residue fluid catalytic cracking, used for upgrading heavy feedstocks to light products) of Iran’s Shazand Oil Refining Company is of great importance in both products output and catalyst production, CEO of the company, Majid Rajabi said, Trend reports.
The CEO noted that currently, the company's RFCC plant produces 1,800 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day.
According to him, the catalyst produced at the RFCC plant is a product of Shazand Oil Refining's 10-year partnership with a local Iranian start up company.
“Along with Shazand Oil Refining Company, the mentioned catalyst will be used both in Esfahan and Abadan Oil Refining Companies,” Rajabi said.
The director also pointed out that there is a great potential for the export of this catalyst, and various steps will be taken in this direction.
The Shazand (Imam Khomeini) Oil Refining Company was launched in 1993 with the capacity to process 150,000 barrels of oil per day. The company currently processes more than 250,000 barrels of oil.
It also produces more than 17 million liters of gasoline and 12 million liters of diesel in accordance with the Euro 4 standard as well as 500 tons of propylene, 400 tons of granular sulfur and 2,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day.
On June 14, 2023, the catalyst of the RFCC plant was put into use at the Shazand Oil Refining Company in the Markazi Province of Iran. This catalyst accelerates the process of breaking down the molecule in the crude oil refining process. The catalyst is heat resistant to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. This catalyst is composed of 16 different substances. The catalyst was produced over 10 years with the cooperation of the Shazand Oil Refining Company and a local start-up company.
