BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. During the meeting with Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov, the issues of integration of energy systems of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran were discussed, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov wrote on X (Twitter), Trend reports.
In addition, as part of the Russian Energy Week in Moscow, Parviz Shahbazov discussed with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak the prospects for cooperation between the countries on joint energy projects.
The meeting discussed the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia in oil and gas production, transportation and supply of petroleum products, as well as electricity.
Shahbazov said that currently Azerbaijani gas is transported to seven countries.
“The expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor, the Solidarity Ring and other initiatives create the prospect of expanding the geography of supplies. Coordinated actions and broad cooperation are necessary,” he noted.
Shabazov emphasized that Türkiye is an important partner of Azerbaijan country in plans to enter new markets for the sale of Azerbaijani gas.
"The energy transition is a long-term process that takes into account energy security, affordability and environmental sustainability. To achieve a balanced energy system, there should be no doubt about the need to continue investment in the oil and gas sector and, in parallel, expand the use of renewable energy sources. It is the countries that have ensured energy security for themselves and their partners that can implement a correct and rational energy transition policy," the minister added.
Shahbazov was taking part in the VI International Forum "Russian Energy Week", held in Moscow. The VI International Forum "Russian Energy Week" will last until October 13, 2023.
