Iran continues to develop its Kish gas field in Persian Gulf

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 21. The development of the 1st phase of the Kish gas field in the Persian Gulf in Hormozgan Province, located in the south of Iran, continues, said Abdolkarim Ali Mohammadi, deputy director of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), Trend reports.

Ali Mohammadi mentioned that already, the drilling of the 3rd well in the Kish gas field has been completed within this framework.

He added that the depth of the “B1” well, which was finished on December 20, exceeds 4,144 meters, and that this well has been handed over to the Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC).

The official also said that two drilling rigs of the NIDC were working in the field, and that the 4th well, “A6”, was close to completion. He said that the drilling rig for the 5th well was being installed.

The 1st phase of the Kish gas field development is a joint project between Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) and the Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company.

The contract, which was signed on February 4, 2023, has a budget of $900 million and a duration of 14 months. The project aims to drill and complete 14 wells, each with a depth of over 4,000 meters, and to produce 28 million cubic meters of gas and 11,000 barrels of gas condensate per day. The extracted gas and condensate will be sent to the refineries in Asaluyeh region.
