BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 28. Azerbaijani banks' loan portfolio grew by 20.93 percent as of April 30, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, and reached 24.644 billion manat, or $14.497 billion, Trend reports.
The data of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) shows that the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks amounted to 20.379 billion manat, or $11.988 billion, as of April 30, 2023.
In the banks' loan portfolio, business loans accounted for 54.68 percent (13.476 billion manat or $7.927 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21.32 percent), consumer loans made up 29.73 percent (7.327 billion manat or $4.310 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20.66 percent), and mortgage loans represented 15.59 percent (3.841 billion manat or $2.260 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20.06 percent).
As of December 31, 2023, the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks grew by 18.32 percent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 23.183 billion manat, or $13.638 billion.
Moreover, as of December 31, 2023, the total assets of Azerbaijani banks exceeded 49.178 billion manat, or $28.928 billion; total liabilities reached 43.114 billion manat, or $25.361 billion; and total capital was 6.063 billion manat, or $3.566 billion. According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, compared to the same period in 2022, the assets, liabilities, and capital of the banking sector increased by 4.5, 4.1, and 7.8 percent, respectively.
