BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 22. The volume of electricity produced at the Bilav hydropower plant in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan was 42,915 kilowatts per hour (kWh) in 2020, 36,362 kWh in 2021, 24,088 kWh (in 2022), 26,560 kWh (in 2023), and 53,335 kWh (in 2024), a source in the State Energy Service of Nakhchivan told Trend.
Full-capacity operation of the facility requires a supply of 10.5 cubic meters per second of water to the channel. The plant is designed to produce 50 million kWh of electricity per year.
The Bilav hydropower plant was built on the Gilanchay River in the Ordubad district and was commissioned on October 5, 2010. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the opening ceremony of the plant.
