BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 7. A total of 16,503 tourists from Central Asian countries visited Azerbaijan in October 2024, which is 31 percent higher than the figure for the same period in 2023 (12,645), Trend reports.
According to the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, the number of tourists from Kazakhstan amounted to 8,134 (42 percent year-on-year growth), Uzbekistan - 3,727 (eight percent year-on-year growth), Turkmenistan - 3,163 (31 percent year-on-year growth), Kyrgyzstan - 790 (29 percent year-on-year growth), Tajikistan - 689 (61 percent year-on-year growth).
Meanwhile, 149,703 tourists from Central Asian countries visited Azerbaijan from January through October this year, which is 38 percent more than in the same period of 2023 (108,516 people).
As many as 2,209,750 foreigners visited Azerbaijan in the reporting period of the current year, which is 28 percent more than in the same period of 2023 (1,724,218).
The number of foreign citizens visiting Azerbaijan in 2023 totaled 2,086,548, which is more than 30.2 percent higher than in 2022 (1,602,600), including 134,589 people from Central Asian countries, which is 82.31 percent higher than in 2022 (73,823).
To note, a total of 545,730 people visited Azerbaijan from Central Asian countries in 2017-2023 (from Kazakhstan - 225,124, Turkmenistan - 145,216, Uzbekistan - 135,941, Kyrgyzstan - 21,296, Tajikistan - 18,153).
