BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. The flow of tourists from Central Asian countries to Azerbaijan saw notable growth in May 2025, with 17,964 visitors recorded.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Tourism Agency indicates that this figure marks an increase of 3,137 tourists, or 21.2 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.
The largest number of visitors came from Kazakhstan, with 8,934 tourists arriving—29 percent more than May 2024. Uzbekistan followed with 4,809 visitors, reflecting a 23 percent rise year-on-year. Meanwhile, Turkmenistan sent 2,522 tourists, a slight decline of 8 percent compared to last year. Kyrgyzstan’s visitor count surged by 65 percent, reaching 1,067 tourists, while Tajikistan contributed 632 tourists, up 5 percent from the previous year.
On the flip side, the overall influx of tourists to Azerbaijan kept on rising. In May, the country rolled out the red carpet for 244,079 foreign nationals and stateless persons, seeing a year-over-year uptick of 4,808 visitors, or a neat 2 percent increase. From January to April 2025, the figure hit 979,963—a jump of 1.5 percent, or 14,408 folks, compared to the year before.
