ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 24. The government of Kazakhstan has allocated 4.9 billion tenge (about $10.3 million) to the executive power of the West Kazakhstan region to ensure a smooth transition into the upcoming heating season, Trend reports.
The funds will be used to reconstruct two major heating networks in the city of Uralsk. These networks are part of a list of 19 heat sources deemed high-risk by Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who has prioritized their modernization.
The TM-5 heating network in Uralsk, which has been in operation since 1987 and is 80 percent worn out, will receive nearly 574 million tenge (about $1.2 million) for repairs.
The second project involves reconstructing 4 kilometers of the TM-2 heating network, which is 75 percent worn out. This project is allocated 4.3 billion tenge (about $9.1 million). Major repairs have never been conducted on either network.
According to the Kazakh government, this funding will ensure an uninterrupted heat supply to 106 multi-storey buildings and about 20 social facilities, benefiting around 24,000 subscribers, including kindergartens, schools, colleges, hospitals, and clinics.
