ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 31. Kazakhstan issued 333 subsoil use licenses, of which 320 for solid mineral exploration and 13 for solid mineral production, after reviewing more than 800 applications in the first half of 2024, Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Industry and Construction.
At the same time, due to failure to fulfill obligations, 32 licenses and 22 subsoil use contracts were terminated.
In May, an electronic auction was held for the right to explore solid minerals; the amount of the signature bonus amounted to more than 89 million tenge (about $187 million). On May 20, an auction was also held for the production rights to the Obukhovskoye field in the North Kazakhstan region.
As the Ministry noted, on August 12, 2024, an electronic auction will be held for 23 deposits containing balanced reserves of solid minerals.
"The Ministry is actively working to simplify legislation and procedures to attract investment. Currently, two bills are being developed aimed at improving the investment climate and subsoil use field," the Ministry said.
In addition, the Ministry continues to automate business processes for subsoil use services on the Unified Platform of Subsoil Users, minerals.gov.kz. At the moment, about 3,500 users are registered on the platform, and by the end of the year, it is planned to complete the integration of a number of government information systems with the platform.
