ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 5. In August 2025, Kazakhstan sent 126,820 international money transfers totaling 61.897 billion tenge ($112.8 million) via the Zolotaya Korona system.
Data obtained by Trend from the country's National Bank shows that the number of transactions rose by 1.37 percent compared to June 2025 (125,110), while the total volume increased by 1.31 percent from 61.097 billion tenge.
Zolotaya Korona accounted for 89.2 percent of all international money transfers by transaction count and 85.1 percent by value in August.
Meanwhile, through international money transfer systems, Kazakhstan sent a total of 142,100 transactions abroad worth 72.7 billion tenge ($132.9 million) in August 2025. Compared to July, the number of outgoing transfers grew by 1.8 percent, and the total volume rose by 3.2 percent.
By country, Uzbekistan received the largest share of outgoing funds at 27.9 billion tenge ($51 million), accounting for 38.4 percent of the total. Russia followed with 18.4 billion tenge ($33.6 million, 25.4 percent), Türkiye—11.2 billion tenge ($20.4 million, 15.5 percent), Georgia—4.6billion tenge ($8.4 million, 6.4 percent), and Kyrgyzstan—2.5billion tenge ($4.5 million, 3.5 percent).
Zolotaya Korona, with its inception tracing back to 1993 in the Russian Federation, achieved formal recognition as a payment system by the National Bank of Kazakhstan subsequent to its endorsement by the Bank of Russia in 2012, thereby underscoring the establishment of its operational framework at a minimum by that temporal juncture. The Zolotaya Korona payment ecosystem has been functioning in the jurisdiction of Kazakhstan since a minimum of 2012, as evidenced by the operational registration certificate of the entity, Payment Center LLC, issued in that fiscal year.
